The smell of sewage going into the place was horrible. Once inside it took us 5 minutes to find anyone to help us. The place was deserted. Sat at the bar ordered two bowls of clam chowder. We told the waitress we really wanted some kind of bread or rolls with it. She said oh it comes with two slices of focaccia bread. Ok sounded good. Hahaha, the "broth" came with two thinly, I mean paper thin (maybe thinner) slices that were about two inches long. Wow what a joke! We just had to laugh. Did not return during our stay at Otter Crest.

The clam chowder was great as was the seafood stew. Service and atmosphere a bit spotty. Thought the fish and chips were a bit expensive for what was served.

We decided to have my birthday dinner here (we were already staying in one of the studios at Otter Crest). The convenience was a plus. Walking in there was two other seated tables. It was very quiet--not a place to go if you're looking for a place with a lively atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and attentive--she made a wonderful Fairweather Martini. We ended up switching tables for a more direct view of the ocean and eventually had the entire dining room to ourselves for at least 75% of the time we were there. We shared the 20 oz Prime Rib--although it was good we were actually particularly impressed with the Pan Friend Potatoes and what we believe to be a housemade tomato compote (vs. Ketchup) as well as the veggies. Overall the dinner was great. I concluded it with their housemade coconut ice cream--the waitress had a great idea to drizzle warm chocolate or hot fudge on top of it to make a sort of Mounds dessert...which was too late to try at the conclusion of our meal but it's worth requesting if given the opportunity next time around.

Hate to complain but wow this dinner took forever. No one took our drink order. Easily a half hour for appetizers. Fish and chips was large filet but tough. Cole slaw very sweet but if eaten with the salty fries, left a nice taste. Decor needs a little work. Cheap kids meals. Entre prices seem little on high end.

A gem. You can't beat the view and most likely will see a few whale spouts. Small, very good menu. Great burgers, fish and chips, smoked salmon salad and soup. The chowder has wonderful flavored but is more of a bisque than chowder. Infused liquor dispensers, very unique and make great drinks. The smoked ice whiskey requires a special palette. Without the ice, it makes for great sipping. Brandy with cherries is pretty good too. Peach cobbler, better than Grandmas. The proprietor on hand, very friendly. Like going to a friends house for dinner except you have to pay. With current owner The Lodge is fairly new. This place is worth the stop and so much better than the more known restaurants near by.

Just went in for drinks and an appetizer. But even though they are renovating this place still has good old fashion customer satisfied values. What I got, the mushroom, was great and the wine and beer are local. Great setting as well right on the water. If your in this neck of the woods it's worth stopping here.

Service was awful---took over 45 minutes to get our meal with only two other parties in the restaurant at the same time. Our meals were salty and a bit over cooked. Don't waste your time or money here!

The wonderful Inn at Otter Crest has a restaurant again - good! You simply can't beat the view from your table at the lodge - the green lawn in front of extensive tide pools, the ocean cliffs, Otter Rock and the occasional whales. The food is decent. My razor clam chowder had a flavorful broth but the vegetables in it were under-cooked. The halibut was okay but the seasoned fries were pretty good. Loved the caper tartar sauce. You can also order things like salmon, bow tie puttanesca, mussels, chicken Marsala or a filet. Pretty standard fare they're going to have to do better if they want to attract anyone other than those staying at the inn. There's also a full bar with a limited selection of microbrews, wines and liquors. Would love to share a cocktail with hubby in the evening here.

Super friendly staff and really good food. It seems like people don't know about this gem in Newport, OR. We wanted to watch the World Cup final there and it was a great experience. My granddaughter and I shared a bone-in ribeye which was so good I could have eaten the whole thing myself . My husband had a satisfying burger with fries added for a dollar, they were excellent. The veggies with the steak were excellent (grilled) only the carrots needed a little more time. The view also is unbeatable.

The food is excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Razor Clam Chowder. Best chowder we have ever had anywhere! The views are wonderful. And the restaurant is quiet enough to converse with your friends. This is a restaurant worth going out of your way for.

My husband, daughter, and I went here for dinner last night. I would skip the spicy fish tacos the beans were bland the fish had done weird candy coating not spicy at all but kinda sweet. My husbands salmon salad with organic mixed greens was really good. The winner meal goes to my daughter she had the best pasta with cheese sauce all three of us have ever tasted. Every Thursday night they have a really nice piano player who comes in and entertains everyone. Very nice touch to our end of the day meal. The ambiance is really classy. I would come here again, I really want to try out there new pizza menu

Staying at the Inn at Otter Crest and went to the Lodge, though the restaurant is open to anyone. The view is excellent; I see previous reviewers have already posted photos. I'm amazed that there were only four other tables of diners. The waiter was very friendly and the fish and chips were very good and large enough to split one plate with my wife. Prices are modest for such a beautiful location. I plan to dine here several more times during our stay.

The chef really takes pride in their work and it shows in the quality and presentation. Staff is very friendly and the owner takes his time to chat with each diner. They offer a selection for every pallet. Drinks are strong, and the beer taps (although not a lot) are quality local crafts. The atmosphere is both romantic and family friendly. I love that it can go either way! It is worth the drive if you are not staying at the inn. Side note, They will be remodeling and will be closed for a month. Very excited to see what they will change.

Saturday night dinner, first time here. Familiar w/ the owner from previous restaurant in Newport, which I loved. At 7 pm, it was very, very quiet in the restaurant. Music barely audible, TV muted on sports, many tables to choose from. We had the salmon w/ mustard-based sauce & it was tender & tasty; the veggies were good, but the rice pilaf was bland. We didn't have room for dessert. Only about 20 diners present by the time we finished. As such, the place was still too quiet; more audible music would help fill in the gaps and make the place seem more vibrant. I will visit here again and try the fish & chips, maybe come for drinks & appetizers another time. I want to give this place a chance to find its niche. Great spot between Newport and Depoe Bay, beautiful setting, just needs some tweaking to make it stand out.

Great selection of seafood entrees. I had the gumbo, which had crawfish, squid, and sausage in it....delicious. Yaquina Bay oyster shooters, as well. Stunning views here--the location on a bluff overlooking Gull Rock and Otter Rock is terrific. From our table, we watched two separate pods of whales spout throughout our dinner, 3-4 whales in each pod I think.
